R&D Tax Incentive New Customer Portal

You’d be aware from our recent newsletter that AusIndustry is moving away from the “Smart Form” that has been used for R&D Applications for the last 9 or 10 years. Applications for FY2021 R&D claims will be made through a new customer portal. While this should ultimately simplify the registration process, there are a number of additional requirements for businesses in setting up the portal and authorising your R&D advisers to act on your behalf.

Before you can access the portal, you need to ensure you have a personal MyGovID and that the principal authority of the business have linked your MyGovID to the business by claiming it in the ATO’s Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM) system.

Our clients will also need to authorise Saving Point in the RAM to be able to collaborate on your registration form and act on your behalf as your nominated R&D Consultants.

The R&D Tax Incentive Customer Portal can be accessed here: https://incentives.business.gov.au/. While the portal is now open and you are able to set up your application, you won’t be able to submit your FY2021 claim until Monday 5 July 2021.

For more details and guidance on how to access this new portal and authorise Saving Point as an authorised user, please contact us at [email protected] or give us a call at (03) 9555 3551.
