Energy Reduction Solutions
Profile
Saving Point a leading Australian company specialising in reduction and rationalisation of operating expenses has partnered with Power Electronics Systems (PES) a leading global provider of energy efficiency solutions. Leveraging decades of Power Electronics R & D, voltage control expertise and environmental awareness, together they deliver products for a range of lighting, HVAC and electric motor applications. Built around a proven core technology, these market‐leading solutions not only enable customers to improve energy efficiency and cut costs, but also make a major contribution towards a greener environment.
Lighting Products
Lighting Energy Controllers (LEC) comprise a line of products that reduce electricity costs for lighting by 15‐35%. This is achieved by optimising the supplied voltage to the level required for the efficient operation of lighting systems, thus reducing maintenance and re‐lamping costs.
LEC systems are compact, efficient and available in a wide range of power ratings, making them suitable for small, medium, and large scale deployments. With thousands of installations worldwide covering an array of indoor and outdoor applications, LEC improves lighting efficiency at office buildings, logistics centres, fast food and retail outlets, service stations, car parks, airports and public installations.
Industrial and HVAC Products
Electric induction motors work inefficiently when they are partially loaded. When the PES’ Voltage Vector Control (VVCTM) Technology is applied to a partially loaded induction motor, the motor will run more efficiently.
The VVCTM Technology enables supplying of reduced, pure sinusoidal voltage to the motor, both at start up, and when required, during its operation. Built around a powerful microprocessor, the system monitors the motor performance and load, and dynamically controls and optimises the supplied voltage. The PES’ VVCTM Technology enables the development of maximum torque during the starting sequence and reduces losses when the motor is running.
The main benefits of the VVCTM Technology include:
- Enabling motors to start at a very low start‐up current. Typically 1.5‐2 times the nominal current.
- Improved power factor
- Reduced power consumption
- Reduced working current
- Reduced KVA
- Reduced KVAR
These benefits not only reduce the direct cost of electricity, but also increase motor efficiency and reduce life cycle costs.
